On November 29th, RMMS students from Miss Chrismae Gooden-White’s RMMS Class of 2017-18, now in sixth grade, returned with their parents to RMMS for the ribbon cutting of the portable stage. Miss Chrismae spoke and shared “These amazing students not only came up with the idea to fundraise for the stage, but they contacted local businesses to obtain their goal of $500. And do you know what? They not only reached that, but they doubled and tripled that! These amazing students are agents of change!” The total cost of the portable stage’s first phase was $4,799.84. Students raise $1,700 towards the stage. The remaining amount was provided by the RMMS Parent Caregiver Association (PCO), and the RMMS Foundation.
Each student smiled as they jointly cut the ribbon to their gift to the next generation of RMMS students.
On behalf of RMMS, Dr. Susan Iwanicki & Ms. Yelena Bergman accepted this special gift, “It is so wonderful to be able to thank all of the people that have contributed and to have the stage which can be used anywhere and for all RMMS programs. Our primary grades are already talking about using it for a play! The stage is foldable and movable and we hope that it will serve our community for many years to come.”
